Boza day celebrated in Radomir

600 litres of the sweet fermented drink served

Boza Day is being marked today in Radomir, a town not far from the capital. The thick, sweet fermented drink is first celebrated with a procession from the Old Market to Svoboda Square. On the square, silver-tongued chef Uti Bachvarov will prepare giant banitsas using 180 eggs and 15kg of cheese. Every visitor can taste the traditional Bulgarian phyllo pastry, complemented by the flavour of sweet and sour boza.

Six hundred litres of Radomir's typical drink will be served at the festival, entitled "With boza, gozba (food) and song". The programme includes culinary demonstrations, a folklore programme, a craft alley and other surprises.

Not only Bulgarians, but also foreign guests from Serbia, Albania and Turkey are expected at the Boza Day.
