National Electric Company pays off its debts to two US thermal power plants

Bulgaria’s National Electric Company has paid off all its debts to the US-owned thermal power plants ContourGlobal Maritza East 3 and AES Maritza East 1, it became clear from the written answer of Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova to an opposition MP, BGNES agency informs. Between April 26 and May 9 the National Electric Company has paid a total of EUR 582.4 million to the two thermal power plants, Minister Petkova points out. The Bulgarian Energy Holding covered part of that sum with the loan taken from an international banking consortium. The rest of the money is paid from revenues.
