Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev ordered the Ministry of Environment and Water to take measures to deal with the problem of water scarcity in various regions of the country. He recommended that additional experts and scientific opinion be brought in to deal with the crisis. The situation is particularly serious in the regions of Shumen and Targovishte due to the reduced water reserves in the Ticha Dam that provides water for drinking and household needs for these regions.

In the municipality of Pleven, eight out of a total of 20 municipal dams are dry, BTA has reported.

The problems with the lack of water continues in the municipality of Straldzha. There has been no rainfall in the area for the past two months and the water supply network is severely compromised, BNR correspondent Daniela Kostova informed.
