A proposal for holding a referendum on preserving the Bulgarian lev has been submitted to the parliament's registry office. This was announced by the chairman of Vazrazhdane, Kostadin Kostadinov. We have collected 52 signatures, he pointed out.
Kostadinov said that in addition to Vazrazhdane, MPs from MECH and Velichie have also signed the proposal.

Kostadinov commented on his Facebook profile that "if they bring us into the Eurozone," mortgage and consumer loan interest rates would increase. As an argument, the politician points to a material on the website dunavmost.com entitled "Interest rates in Bulgaria will double after the introduction of the euro."

The Ministry of Finance, without explicitly stating that it was responding to Kostadinov, recalled that the law on the introduction of the euro stipulates that interest rates on loans will not change after entering the Eurozone.
