During the Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting in Luxembourg, Bulgaria and the other 26 EU Member States supported the request that the future Common Agricultural Policy after 2027 should resolve the issue of unfair distribution of payments in the sector.
The Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture, Georgi Tahov, presented to the council a joint declaration by Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, in which they call for convergence of direct payments in the EU countries, because discrepancies lead to unequal market conditions.
