Bulgarian Academy of Sciences elects six new academicians

The Assembly of Academicians of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences elected new academicians. Ilza Pazheva has become an academician in biological sciences. Her main scientific achievements are in the field of bioinformatics and QSAR modeling. She established a world-renowned school for in silico study on the interactions of proteins associated with various human diseases.

Ivan Ruschev has been elected an academician in humanities and social sciences. He is a researcher in private law and the law of obligations.

Ivan Ilchev Dimitrov, author of books on the history of Bulgaria, the Balkans and Europe, has also been elected an academician. Hristo Naydenski and Ivan Iliev were elected academicians in agricultural and forestry sciences. Hristo Naydenski is an expert on the mechanisms of bacterial virulence in domestic animals. Academician Iliev works on the ecological, social and economic functions of forests in Bulgaria. Writer Ivan Granitsky has also been elected an academician.
