The cabinet rotation is called into question

"We have a fundamental difference in terms of GERB being accepted as an equal partner, outgoing Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel said at a briefing on Sunday evening. ‘’We proposed to vote on the composition of the current government with only a rotation between the Premier and the Deputy Premier, to have the possibility to change ministers and to continue working on the agreement. This was categorically rejected’’, Mariya Gabriel said and added that GERB remains firm in its vision for the governance of the country, in which composition, priorities and reforms go hand in hand. We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria have until 12:00 pm today to consider GERB's proposals. Otherwise, the biggest parliamentary force will return the government-forming mandate unfulfilled.

"What is happening right now is unnecessary", said Hristo Ivanov from Democratic Bulgaria- We Continue the Change (DB-PP).  "If we do not sign this agreement, it will be a heavy blow that will affect everyone", Hristo Ivanov added. For his part, PP-DB Co-Chairman Kiril Petkov called on Mariya Gabriel to wait for a week instead of returning the mandate unfulfilled because the most important thing are the reforms, not the ministers. In his words, GERB-SDS have asked for Gabriel to be Prime Minister, while she continues being Minister of Foreign Affairs. According to Kiril Petkov, GERB-SDS also wanted the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Innovation, The Ministry of Environment and Water, The ministry of Education and Science, and the Ministry of Culture.
