The necessary income to support life for one person living alone and working in Bulgaria is BGN 1,402 (696 euros), said Plamen Dimitrov, president of the CITUB trade union, at a press conference.

A total of BGN 2,524 (EUR 1,253) is the subsistence allowance for a three-member family of two working adults and a child up to 14 years of age. The income for the living wage increased by 0.6% on a quarterly basis and by 10.6% on an annual basis, reported Dimitrov.

"More than 2/3 of the working people cannot reach the living wage, they receive an income below it. Nearly 41% of people have labor income up to BGN 1,000 (497 euros). Regardless of the fact that inflation is calming down, the standard of living is not calming down and retains two-digit numbers", added Dimitrov.
