The tragic fate of one of the most talented Bulgarian poets, Peyo Yavorov, has inspired the Bulgarian composer Lyubomir Denev to create the music for the chamber opera "Moan, or the Tragedy of Yavorov".

The premiere of the opera will be on May 29 at 8 p.m. on the stage of the Summer Theater in Ayazmoto park in Stara Zagora. The production is of the Stara Zagora State Opera and it will be conducted by the composer himself.

The work will also be performed in the poet's native house-museum in the town of Chirpan on May 31 as well as in Sofia on June 2 in the National Palace of Culture - Azaryan Theatre within the framework of the Sofia Music Weeks festival.

The libretto, by Boyko Iliev, traces the complicated relationship in the love triangle with Yavorov's two muses - Lora and Mina. The music combines typical song melodies of the time and elements of some early 20th century dance genres with a marked contemporary theatricality.
