Interest on consumer loans could go up by up to 10%

In 2023 interest on home loans could go up by up to 5%, on consumer loans – by up to 10%, financiers say, citing the policies of the European Central Bank and the US Federal Reserve for harnessing inflation.

The rise in interest rates has affected the Bulgarian National Bank as well, and it too has raised the base interest rate to 1.3% for December. This, experts say, is a sign of the tendency that loan interest rates are going up. The average interest rate on mortgage credits is expected to reach 4-5% at the end of next year. At the moment the average home loan interest rate is 2.48%. Interest on bank deposits is also going up, though at a slower rate.
