BNR’s Mixed Choir ends season with jubilee concert featuring works by Bulgarian composers

In 2022 the Bulgarian National Radio’s Mixed Choir started its 70th season, which will end on 23 November with a concert at the Central Military Club in Sofia. The concert will feature works by Apostol Nikolaev-Strumski, Stefan Mutafchiev, Georgi Popov, Alexander Raichev, Slavil Dimitrov, Nikolay Stoykov, Dimitar Ninov etc., as well as Missa Catholica Bulgarica by Yuli Damyanov with singers from the choir and, piano accompaniment by Monica Gvozdeva.  

Through the years the Bulgarian National Radio’s Mixed Choir has had concerts in Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Japan, and has taken part in major opera productions, concerts and recording sessions with renowned conductors such as Herbert von Karajan, Georges Prêtre, Claudio Abbado, Pierre Dervaux and many others.

In 2014, the BNR Choir was invited to take part in a spectacular concert in front of the town hall in Vienna on Europe Day, 9 May, a concert broadcast live by dozens of TV and radio stations, members of the European Broadcasting Union.

Lyubomira Alexandrova has been conductor of the choir since 2016, and she will be conducting the concert on 23 November.
