Natural gas rises in price by 60%

Bulgaria's Commission for Energy and Water Regulation confirmed the price of natural gas for August in the amount of the increase requested by Bulgargaz. Thus, 298 BGN (152 EUR) will be paid for 1 megawatt hour, which represents a 60% increase compared to July. At this price, Bulgargaz will sell natural gas to final suppliers and to persons with a license for the production and transmission of thermal energy.

The main reason for the increase is the sharply increased prices on the international gas markets. Regardless of the price increase, however, the data show that the price of natural gas in Bulgaria remains lower than that of the European gas exchanges.

The energy regulator assured that the necessary quantities of natural gas for August were provided by Bulgargaz - including with a signed contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
