St. John the Baptist Gradeshnitsa monastery is opening doors to refugees from Ukraine, Hieromonk Spiridon from the monastery said for bTV.

The church in the Black Sea town of Nessebar has already given shelter to the first women and children fleeing the war, and has stated it can take in around 20 people.

“The situation is dynamic,” Hieromonk Spiridon said, and added that to begin with, some 10 refugees are going to arrive at the monastery, though the monks are in contact with a second group. “We are expecting them to arrive tomorrow night or on Monday,” Hieromonk Spiridon said. Friends of the monastery are to travel to the border with Romania today to transport the people. Almost one ton of flour has already been delivered at the cloister, as well as other essentials, but they need more food. Many people have promised to help with clothes and other commodities.
