“There is no pressure on the joint historical commission with North Macedonia. The people from North Macedonia who are no longer in the commission left of their own free will, they were not substituted,” Prof. Angel Dimitrov, co-chair of the commission said for public service TV BNT.

“We have experience, we know what to expect and we are proceeding with caution and realism, with no particular expectations,” Prof. Dimitrov added. “The normal rhythm of work of the commission is being blocked by the unwillingness of our colleagues to admit we have common history. As a response to the new energy bilateral relations are being imbued with, we have envisaged more dynamism in our work. Three meetings are scheduled in the period up until May,” he said.
