The European Capitals and Cities of Sports Federation (ACES Europe) awarded the World Capital of Sport 2024 title to Bulgaria’s capital Sofia, because of the innovations and good practices introduced when the capital city was European Capital of Sport 2018, announced the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova.
“This is a natural continuation of the city’s efforts to promote active and healthy life. Sofia held one of the most successful campaigns as European Capital of Sport", said Mayor Fandakova. In 2021, Sofia hosts 10 world and European sports tournaments and championships.
