Bulgaria completes construction of first section of Europe motorway

The construction of the first seventeen kilometer-long section of Europe motorway connecting the towns of Dragoman and Slivnitsa has been completed, Road Infrastructure Agency announced, BTA informs. Construction works ended six months ahead of schedule. The section is part of the Pan-European corridor London-Budapest-Belgrade-Sofia-Plovdiv-Istanbul-Calcutta, which is the shortest road connecting Western Europe, the Near East and the Middle East.

Europe motorway connecting Kalotina border crossing and Bulgaria’s capital Sofia is 48 kilometers long. Construction of the 14.5 kilometer section between the Bulgaria-Serbia border and the town of Dragoman continues.

The third section of the motorway between Slivnitsa and Sofia will be 16 kilometers long. The technical design of the new section is being prepared.
