The Bulgarian Orthodox Church started a charity campaign named The Greatness of the Temple aimed at raising money for renovation and repair of Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. At least EUR 15,000 is necessary for emergency repair of the cathedral’s roof. The water now flows inside the cathedral building and is destroying the valuable frescoes which also need to be restored, Bishop Gerasim of Melnik wrote. The interdepartmental technical expertise showed that over EUR 2 million in needed for overall repair of the cathedral. People can support the charity initiative via text message at 17 777 (NEVSKY). You can also send money to the bank accounts of the Holy Synod.
