Electricity production in Bulgaria has decreases by over 15%, as the decrease in hydroelectric power plants is about 50%. Many manufacturers are planning repairs, which will strengthen Bulgaria's new profile as a net electricity importer. From the beginning of the year to February 2, this country imported 570 684 MWh, which is 108.21% more than in the same period last year. On the other hand, electricity exports fell by about 33.67% compared to January 2019 to 507 749 mWh. This shows that because of high market prices it is cheaper for Bulgarian companies to buy electricity from abroad.
