Every Ukrainian citizen who wishes to receive a protected status will have access to health care and other social services in Bulgaria. This became clear at the first briefing of the Operational Coordination Group, which plans and organizes the actions of state institutions for evacuation and accommodation of refugees from Ukraine arriving in Bulgaria. The head of the group Valeri Rachev announced that the model for granting temporary protection has already been changed and preliminary reception points are working at the border checkpoint.
The document for a protected status will be received directly at the border and will give refugees much more rights than the international refugee status.
The system is expected to be operational from Monday, March 14.
For all people who have already arrived in Bulgaria, applications will be able to be submitted to the regional offices of the Ministry of Interior (MVR).
Rachev added that six consuls have already been sent to Ukraine's borders with Moldova and Romania, who will provide preliminary information to those arriving in Bulgaria.
