Specialized police operations were carried out last night in the regions of Haskovo and Vratsa. The operations targeted restaurants and night clubs, vehicles and private security guards.
One hour after midnight the police inspected 44 restaurants and clubs in Dimitrovgrad, Haskovo and Harmanli as well as 124 cars; drivers without licenses or driving under the influence were detained. The police also checked identification documents and searched for narcotics. A total of 150 contraventions were registered in Vratsa region during the operation when 440 people, 250 motor vehicles and 100 restaurants and clubs were inspected.
In the course of the operation the police busted an illegal treasure-hunting group in Selanovtsi village, finding antique objects, among them coins, jewellery and a statuette in the group's possession. The police also prevented a major property scam. Six men were detained while attempting to acquire real estate worth half a million Leva in Sofia’s Boyana residential area using forged documents.
Police operations were also mounted in the regions of Varna, Kyustendil, Pazardjik and Sliven, the Interior Ministry has announced.
