Bulgarian athlete Daniel Asenov became European boxing champion in the 52 kilogram category at the European Boxing Championship held in the town of Samokov (Southwestern Bulgaria). He won a 3:0 victory against British boxer Muhammad Ali. Bulgaria won a total of one gold and 4 bronze medals at this year’s championship. It also earned 6 quotas for the World Boxing Tournament which is to be held later in October in Doha (Qatar).
