Environmental protection and civil associations are planning for today, too, parallel protests in Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv against the search and the extraction of shale gas, coal gas and tight gas. They insist for the true implementation of the parliament-imposed ban on the extraction of shale gas through the “hydraulic hammering” method. According to the organizers of the protest the ban exists only on paper and the state is actually breaching it. Environmentalists claim that despite the ban for the extraction of shale gas through that method two years ago, licenses have been give to several companies, which on their web sites as well as at the stock exchange announce they are seeking for and willing to obtain gas through non conventional methods.
