Hungary urges EU to dispatch border guards to the borders of Bulgaria and Greece
Hungary’s Deputy Interior Minister Bence Retvari stated that the abolition of Bulgaria and Romania’s Schengen borders by land is very important to the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the EU. We want to reach a decision by the end of the year, Bence Retvari said in an interview for the Bulgarian news agency BTA, but did not specify when a vote can be expected.
At a press conference in Budapest he urged the EU countries to dispatch additional forces to Bulgaria and Greece’s external borders. We cannot leave Bulgaria and Greece on their own, we need to discuss how to help them as soon as possible, he stated. The migrants arriving at the EU’s Southern borders do not want to abide by the law, they do not respect the EU, nor are they cooperating with the authorities, he added.
