Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev has officially opened the Calisthenics World Championship, which began today at the capital's Asics Arena and will continue until April 27. Calisthenics is a sport that is enjoying increasing popularity, in which athletes build strength, flexibility and endurance, using only their own weight.

Among those present were the legends of gymnastics Krasimir Dunev, president of the Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation, and Yordan Yovchev - multiple European and world champion and Olympic medalist.
"We are extremely proud to host an event of such stature. This is the first time we are holding a World Championship in this sport. We are proud because athletes from over 60 countries from all continents are participating in this event. There are over 300 participants in the various disciplines," Yovchev emphasized.

Bulgaria is participating with 20 athletes, and our team is led by head coach Delyan Dimitrov - a two-time world parkour champion.
