Drivers should drive with a maximum speed of 130 km/h on highways, which is ten less than the current permitted speed, MPs of the parliamentary Committee on Transport decided, adopting the amendments to the Road Traffic Act at first reading.

“The use of cameras to determine average speed on first-class and second-class roads will be the second stage of the reform to limit speeding,” Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadjov told the MPs.

The Minister of Regional Development Ivan Ivanov also participated in the meeting. He announced that the rehabilitation of the problematic road sections will require 17.8 billion euros. According to him, the unpaid funds from previous years for activities carried out amount to over 511 million euros and they must be paid in 2025.

Grozdan Karadjov: Our goal is to reduce the number of road deaths by 20%
