The Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds published information on its Facebook page about two poisoned Egyptian vultures in the Eastern Rhodopes.
A female bird, with a transmitter attached, died in the hands of Dr. Volen Arkumarev. According to the organisation, the death was caused by poisoned baits. The other vulture was found in serious condition by Nikolay Terziev and the dog Bars, who are part of the NGO’s anti-poison team. Everything possible is being done to save the bird.
The police have responded to what happened and an investigation has been launched.
