During her visit to London, Vice President Iliana Iotova met with Deputy Mayor Joanne McCartney. McCartney is also the Deputy Mayor for Children and Families.

The meeting focused on the difficulties faced by a section of the Bulgarian community, which is one of the largest in the London area. Due to their poor and lack of education, illiteracy and lack of English language skills, a large part of the Bulgarian community is encapsulated and does not integrate into the local community. "We need to work on getting the children involved in the education system. They need to know that they can only be successful if they are educated. That way they will find a job and will not rely only on the social system of the UK," said Iliana Iotova, quoted by BGNES.
