On March 8, Seojun Kim from South Korea, the winner of the first prize in the men's category at the 2024 International Ballet Competition "Sara-Nora Prima", will perform on the stage of the Stara Zagora State Opera. He will play Prince Désiré in a festive performance of Tchaikovsky's ballet "The Sleeping Beauty".
In the second edition of the International Ballet Competition "Sara-Nora Prima", held in the summer of 2024 in Burgas, South Korea's dancer charmed the jury and the audience. Prima ballerina Sylvia Tomova, who is an artistic director of the ballet at the State Opera Stara Zagora, awarded him a special prize — participation in the "The Sleeping Beauty" ballet.
With a focus on young talents, Sylvia Tomova provides the opportunity for several students from the National School of Dance Art in Sofia and the National School of Arts-Varna to perform on March 8.
The "The Sleeping Beauty" is staged in the classical style based on the choreography of Marius Petipa. The staging is by the renowned dancer, choreographer, film actor and teacher Andrey Bossov. The scenography is by the famous Bulgarian set designer Ivan Tokadzhiev, while the costumes are created by Mariya Blazheva.
