Funds will be found for both procedures – “Hot Lunch” and “Home Care”, which are among the most sought-after measures to support the most vulnerable members of society.
During the parliamentary control sitting earlier today, in response to a question whether they will be maintained after the end of the procedure on September 30, 2025, the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov assured that opportunities are being sought to redirect additional funds from other programs and to continue care for the poorest.
The “Hot Lunch” procedure is financed under the “Food and Basic Material Assistance” Program, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus. About 70,000 people in 240 municipalities receive support through it.

The budget for the measure has been increased many times and currently amounts to BGN 193.6 million. The amount is nearly 50% of the total budget of the Program for the programming period 2021 - 2027, which is 411 million BGN (just over 200 million euros).

Of these funds, nearly 90% have been agreed for activities and measures to support the most needy people.
