Calls for joining Balkan wave of boycotts of high prices in supermarkets

The Federation of Consumers in Bulgaria, the movement “The system is killing us” and the Allied Pensioners Unions have called for a boycott of the high prices in food chains on 13, February, following the example of Croatians. The government is also urged to approve a price cap on 70 basic foods.

The boycott in Croatia on Friday, 24 and Friday, 31 January brought about a more than 40% drop in the sales of the supermarkets in the country affected. Similar consumer boycotts took place on Friday, 31 January in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia, where new action against high prices is planned for 7 February.
