On the eve of February 1 - the day on which Bulgaria pays homage to the victims of the communist regime - the We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) party announced that it was tabling a bill for the removal of all monuments that symbolise the communist regime in Bulgaria.

"We are tabling this bill to allow GERB mayors to remove the monuments they have defended for so many years - such as the Soviet Army monument in the centre of Sofia and the monument on Bunardzhik Hill in Plovdiv, known as 'Alyosha'," said PP-DB MP Yordan Ivanov.
