Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev visits the Sultanate of Oman

In the context of the efforts to release the Bulgarian citizens detained on board the Galaxy Leader ship, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Georg Georgiev, paid a working visit to the Sultanate of Oman, where he met with his Omani counterpart H.E. Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

Minister Georgiev expressed the high appreciation of the Bulgarian state leadership for the fundamental contribution of the Sultanate of Oman to the release of the crew of the Galaxy Leader ship.

The selfless nature and the leading humanitarian motives of Oman's diplomatic role were highlighted. Special attention was paid to the presence of a strong political will for further upward development of bilateral relations in various areas of mutual interest. Minister Georgiev conveyed a written message from the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev to H.E. Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, which also extended an invitation for a state visit to Bulgaria. The Foreign Minister renewed the invitation of the Bulgarian side for an official visit of Minister Al Busaidi to Bulgaria.

As an expression of appreciation and gratitude for the purposeful and consistent efforts of the Sultanate of Oman for the successful resolution of the case with the crew of the Galaxy Leader ship, Minister Georg Georgiev honored H.E. Badr Al Busaidi with the highest award of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - "Golden Laurel Branch".

During his working visit to the Sultanate of Oman, Georg Georgiev also spoke with some of the officials directly involved in resolving the case. The importance of the active dialogue and mutual trust between the two countries was emphasized, who confirmed their desire to deepen cooperation with each other.
