"During our meeting with the President of the European Commission, it was crucial to reaffirm the mutual trust between the new Bulgarian government and the new Commission," said Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov after his meeting with Ursula von der Leyen in Strasbourg.

"For Bulgaria, the issue of targeted investments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), the reforms we need to implement, the readiness of the Bulgarian administration and authorities to make targeted investments and handle payments based on the needs of the industry, as well as overcoming certain political challenges, are extremely important," the Prime Minister said.

"We will try to reach out to coalition partners to bridge some of our differences on the policy of reforms under the RRP. This is important because Ursula von der Leyen also mentioned that this is Bulgarian money - we have to do everything we can to get it," Zhelyazkov said.
