Bulgaria is making the necessary progress towards adopting the euro, according to representatives of the European institutions whom Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova met with. This progress will allow Bulgaria to request extraordinary convergence reports from the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Commission regarding its readiness to introduce the euro, the Ministry of Finance announced. Minister Petkova met in Brussels with ECB President Christine Lagarde, Eurogroup President Paschal Donohoe and EU Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis.

“A good first discussion with Temenuzhka Petkova, Bulgarian Minister of Finance – looking forward to strong cooperation. The EU Commission will continue to support Bulgaria on its path to Euro Area accession”, Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis wrote on X.
