GERB-SDS terminates the negotiations for the formation of a regular government due to the refusal of Democratic Bulgaria to support a GERB candidate for prime minister, said GERB. ''No agreement was reached with Democratic Bulgaria on the composition of a future government and the name of a candidate for prime minister. This became clear at a meeting of the negotiation teams of GERB-SDS, Democratic Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Socialist Party and There Is Such a People", said GERB. After Democratic Bulgaria’s refusal to support the first nomination of GERB-SDS for prime minister, that of party leader Boyko Borissov, GERB-SDS nominated Rosen Zhelyazkov, but his nomination was also rejected. GERB-SDS thanked the teams of BSP-United Left and There Is Such a People for their participation in the negotiations and for their constructive tone.

Democratic Bulgaria said that they had learned from the media that GERB is terminating the negotiations for a regular government. "For Democratic Bulgaria, the choice of prime minister and the composition of a future government have always been conditional on a finalized agreement and a leadership meeting", the coalition said.
