Citizens of Lovech protest against power cuts

For the second time, the inhabitants of Lovech and the surrounding area protested against the electricity distribution company Electrohold. Some of them had to spend a whole week in darkness and cold during the Christmas and New Year holidays because of numerous power cuts after snow fell in the region. Some customers are still without power. Protesters told BNR correspondent Plamen Hristov that the quality of the electricity supply is low not only in winter, but all year round.

"They cut it off at random times for 10 or 15 minutes, you never know when and for how long. This is the 21st century, it's a disgrace," said one protester. All this comes against the backdrop of an announced increase in electricity prices. The protesters' demands include compensation from the company for the power shortage and a long-term solution to the power supply problem. A class action lawsuit is being prepared against the company.
