An average of seven unemployed Bulgarians compete for one open position

An average of seven unemployed people are competing for one job across the country in 2024, according to the National Employment Agency.
The strongest competition is in the districts of Gabrovo, Razgrad, Silistra and Targovishte, where 11 people are applying for one vacant position, while in Sofia-city, Ruse and Kyustendil four people are applying.

The number of unemployed people over the age of 50 exceeds 60,000 and those with disabilities exceed 10,000, the survey also shows. The unemployed under 29 years of age are over 17, 000.

Those registered for more than a year with the employment bureaus number about 34,000 - of these 25,000 have no qualifications and 14,000 have primary education.
