Bulgaria’s top-ranked female tennis player Viktoriya Tomova has reached the round of 16 at the WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo. She defeated defending champion Veronika Kudermetova from Russia 7-6(3), 6-3 after nearly two hours of play. Tomova's next opponent will be sixth-seeded Diana Schnaider (Russia).

Bulgaria’s top tennis player Grigor Dimitrov advanced one place in the ATP world rankings. He is now No 9 in the ATP rankings (3,735 points), despite losing the final of the tennis tournament in Stockholm on October 20. His performance in the Swedish capital earned him 155 points, allowing him to surpass the previous ninth-ranked player, Alex de Minaur. This week, Grigor Dimitrov will participate in the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna, where he will face China's Zhang Zhizhen in the first round.
