Bulgaria and Romania will command regional headquarters of NATO's special operations

We are about to pass the last stage of certification of the Regional Special Operations Component Command Headquarters with Romania, Maj. Gen. Yavor Mateev, Commander of Bulgaria's Joint Special Operations Command told reporters.

For the first time, Bulgaria and Romania become a regional special operations command - part of the command structure of the special operations forces of NATO. Bulgaria will participate with two tactical groups.

"I am sure that everything will go smoothly and the command, together with the six tactical groups - land, aviation and maritime, will assume duty as part of the NATO forces with the highest readiness in the Black Sea region," Maj. Gen. Yavor Mateev added.
