The initiative "Take a Walk with Your Cardiologist" was held in major Bulgarian cities to mark today’s World Heart Day.
The Organizers from the Bulgarian Society of Cardiology emphasized the importance of regular moderate physical activity, which is a key factor in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Participants had the opportunity to talk with doctors and receive information materials.
Dimitar Kostov from Smolyan, who underwent a heart transplant one year ago, was among the participants.
Cardiovascular diseases continue to be the leading cause of death in the country. The ''Heart Week'' initiative will be held in some schools across the country from September 30 to October 4. Students will be introduced to the main risk factors for heart disease and the healthy habits they can adopt to protect and improve their heart health. World Heart Day will end with a show in front of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, where 50 drones will paint a heart in the sky.
