Bulgaria will request the suspension of egg imports from Ukraine at the upcoming Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting  in Brussels on September 23, caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food Minister Georgi Tahov said at a meeting with farmers in the town of Kardzhali. The meeting is part of a series of training sessions organized by the Agriculture Ministry across the country regarding the requirements for area and livestock payments under the Strategic Plan for Agricultural and Rural Development 2023-2027.

Minister Tahov highlighted the market challenges faced by Bulgarian producers due to increased imports and the possibility of implementing protective measures under the EU’s Autonomous Trade Measures for Ukraine. ''We have the assurance of the Ministry of Finance that the necessary EUR 150 million for the second tranche of the Ukrainian Aid will be provided and paid in 2024'', Minister Tahov promised.
