The National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party expelled former leader Kornelia Ninova and three other members of BSP - Georgi Svilensk-, Ivan Chenchev and Krum Donchev. The decision was taken with 105 votes in favour, 16 against and 4 abstentions.
Earlier in the week, Kornelia Ninova triggered a strong reaction within the BSP by announcing that she had authorized Georgi Svilenski and Ivan Chenchev to register the party for the early parliamentary elections on October 27. However, the interim leadership insisted that this task should be done by Atanas Zafirov, who was elected temporary chairman of BSP after the resignation of Kornelia Ninova due to poor election results.
''They should have convened a congress to finalize my resignation. It was a big mistake that they didn’t do it. I don’t understand it. On the one hand, they say ''get out'', but on the other hand, they don’t want the congress. They were afraid of the congress", Kornelia Ninova told journalists.
