An exhibition, mountain book readings, poetry and music – this is just part of Sofia Library’s programme celebrating 129 years since the first organized climb up to the highest point on Mount Vitosha. The invitation is extended to all mountain hiking lovers – to come to the meadow in front of Aleko mountain hut on Sunday, 25 August, where an exhibition has been arranged of the archives of the Sofia Library, including a documentary photo exposition.
The Sofia Library exhibition aims to acquaint visitors with old photographs going back to the turn of the 20th century presenting the beauty of nature, and most of all Mount Vitosha as writer Aleko Konstantinov saw and described it in his works. The mountain exhibition includes books from the library’s valuable collections, once again with a focus on Vitosha – it is interesting to see how it was described by foreign travelers and Bulgarian explorers.
Sofia Library will also restock the “library hut” where tourists can take and read as book close to nature.
