The exhibition draws attention to sites marked by destruction in Bulgaria using sculpture, installation, sound and film. It will open on 1 August at the venue of the Swimming Pool project in the capital, organizers said. "Ecologies of Prehod" (meaning "Transition") presents the long-distance care of tangible and intangible heritage that is in constant flux.

To this end, the Off-Site Curatorial Collective invites artists Nicolás Kisic Aguirre Nicolás Kisic Aguirre ( Peru), Katarina Burin (Slovakia/USA), Sam Ghantous (Oman/Switzerland), Elitsa Koeva and Manar Moursi (Egypt/Canada) to connect with specific places in Bulgaria. The artists gathered materials together with local people and used them to create their works.

This exhibition is part of a series of initiatives led by Off-site, a research collective co-founded in 2020 by Borislav Angelov, Pauline Shongov and Maya Shopov. With Ecologies of Transition, they introduce alternative approaches to the archive through the lens of environmental humanities and critical heritage and media studies.
