In addition to the hundreds of fire-fighters, two French planes also help in combating the fire. They will be putting out the fire in the area of Maleshevo, the director of the fire department, Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov, has told the BNR. The two Bulgarian helicopters will continue to work for putting out the fire in the Slavyanka mountain bordering Greece.

Bulgaria has requested additional assistance from the EU, Dzhartov announced. According to BNT, today it will become known what aid will be sent from Romania. In the municipality of Pehchevo, which is on the other side of the Maleshevo mountain in North Macedonia, another fire is approaching the Bulgarian border, the North Macedonian media report.
