Oborishte District organized an event called "The Big Table". It is held under the motto "Bring Food. Meet Your Neighbor". On Saturday, the communal table closed Exarch Joseph Street in central Sofia. A 60-meter-long table brought neighbours, guests and tourists together. The event was filled with conversations, music and dancing.
The food truck of ''Hrana Za Razmisal'' offered food from Syria, Ukraine and Afghanistan, the homelands of refugees in Bulgaria. Hester Gartrell was among the volunteers who participated in setting up ''The Big Table''. She is from London and has been working in Sofia for four years. "This is a very nice initiative. We need to start talking to our neighbors about food because it is a non-conflict topic. We can start with that and then move on to more difficult topics", Hester Gartrell said for BTA. "Sofia is a very nice city. It is very important for me to be part of the civil society and not just live in my apartment", Hester Gartrell went on to say.
