The situation with the fire at the Bulgarian-Greek border is quite severe, said caretaker Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov. Two Greek helicopters, two airplanes and two Bulgarian military helicopters are involved in the firefighting efforts. ''The fire front is very large, and the terrain is very heavy. Several times, the fire has been extremely close to the border, but fortunately, our colleagues from the fire department and Border Police have managed to contain it and it is still at the border", said Minister Stoyanov.

''For the time being, we are managing to control the fire at the Bulgarian-Greek border sufficiently to prevent it from spreading uncontrollably. The wind is constantly changing direction", said Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov, Director of the General Directorate Fire Safety and Civil Protection. In his words, there is no need to evacuate people from the nearest settlements, as they are far away from the fire.
