Melon festival in Balgarevo

On 27 and 28 July, the village of Balgarevo, the largest village in the municipality of Kavarna, will host the 17th Melon Festival. The event, which takes place in the school park, is already a tradition for Balgarevo. The festive programme on both evenings starts at 19.00. Besides the traditional competition for the best melon grower and the melon eating contest, there will be a concert by local folklore groups and many fun games for children.

Melon growing is a traditional livelihood for the people of Balgarevo. The local sweet and fragrant fruits are famous and sought after by Bulgarians.
