Radina Velichkova wins gold in 100 m. sprint at European Athletics U18 Championship

Radina Velichkova, Bulgaria won the gold medal in the 100 metres sprint at the European Athletics U18 Championships in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. 16-year old Velichkova clocked 11.46 seconds, setting a national record for girls for Bulgaria, and earning the first title for the country at a European under 18 championship. Shade Laporal, France came second with 11.54 seconds, and third Miia Ott, Estonia - 11.62 seconds.  

Half an hour before the triumph by Radina Velichkova, Hristiyan Kasabov of Bulgaria won the first medal for Bulgaria in the 110 metre hurdles – the bronze. Kasabov clocked 13.47 seconds, coming one thousandth of a second ahead of Toby Wright, UK. The gold was won by Kyan Escalona, Italy (13.22 seconds), second came Lucas Domergue, France (13.34 seconds).
