Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov: Every 20 minutes there is a report of a new fire

“In the villages of Kraynevo, Voden and Sharkovo we are working on three fronts. Every 20 minutes there is a report of a new fire somewhere in the country,” caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov said at a briefing in Mamarchevo village, Bolyarovo municipality.

There is no danger to the people. One of the fires in the region of Yambol is creeping towards the Bulgaria-Turkey border. Every afternoon the strong wind creates fireballs. That is one of the reasons why the firefighters are unable to contain the flames. France is also ready to send two helicopters, said Minister Stoyanov further.

Minister of Transport Georgi Gvozdeykov is to meet with mobile network operators so a cell tower can be put up in the village of Voden, PM Glavchev said at the briefing, and went on to reject the allegations that the firefighters had not done their job and had left the houses in Voden to burn. He stated further he would convene the security council on Friday or on Saturday to discuss the problem with the wildfires.
